Hurricane Sandy brought havoc to the East Coast earlier this month. There have been tragic deaths and property damages with costs continuing to climb into the tens of billions. This storm will have a lasting effect on the region for years to come. However, Fortney & Weygandt was asked by a national pharmacy chain to restore the availability of critical health care supplies to the residents of Rockaway, NY. by constructing a temporary "drug store."

Two trucks left our corporate office on Wedensday morning, a day after the storm hit. The trucks were loaded with tools, lumber, generators, lights, food and water. Despite weather conditions and the City of New York Emergency Management team delaying entry into the city, our team crossed the George Washington Bridge into Manhattan on Friday night at 9:30pm.

By 5am Saturday morning our crews had put two trailers together and began building ramps to prepare the trailers to become a temporary store. The Fortney & Weygandt team was quickly able to set up the shelves, fixtures and millwork to transform the two trailers into a working pharmacy for our client's customers and the community needs.

Working around the clock, the Fortney & Weygandt crew was able to complete what normally would take 10 days in just three.
