Fortney & Weygandt, Inc. is committed to the safety and well-being of our employees at the job site and in the corporate office.
Managing a large staff of personnel, we take great pride in implementing our Corporate Safety Policy, which includes initial training during orientation, continued education, consistent training conducted in weekly jobsite meetings, free skill and safety classes, required 10-hour OSHA Training Course, and a 30-hour OSHA Training Course.
Fortney & Weygandt, Inc. has been an “OSHA Four Star Partnering Contractor”, committing to the highest standards of safety and training. We employ a full-time Safety Director to enforce the Corporate Safety Policy and assist with employee training.
Every field employee hired by the company is required to complete a half-day safety training orientation. Instruction on the following subjects is discussed:
- Hazcom
- Lockout/Tagout
- Back Safety
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- Personal Protection Equipment

- Trenching/Shoring
- Stairways/Ladders
- Hazmat-Drivers

- Electrical Standard
- Fall Protection
- Scaffold Safety
- Forklift/Material Handling

In addition to the safety orientation, the Company requires that all Field Superintendents complete the 30-Hour OSHA Training Course and all other field personnel complete a 10-hour OSHA Training Course.
Fortney & Weygandt, Inc. also conducts pre-hire and post accident / injury drug testing for all employees and is enrolled in the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Drug-free Workplace Program.
