Case Study – Store Conversion
Challenge:
Fortney & Weygandt was asked to deliver a complete brand conversion program consisting of 193 drug stores in California and Nevada over a six month period. The major challenges were the logistical problem of surveying the program, providing the manpower, and ensuring that the materials met our crews on time in order to renovate 3,500,000 square feet of open retail space in such a condensed time frame.
Solution:
The Rollout Services Group of Fortney & Weygandt went to work at planning such an ambitious program with the imagination, communication, know-how, and teamwork that has become their hallmark. The scope of work included:
painting relocating/cutting store fixture removing/installing seismic clips
carpet installing new photo labs installing cash wraps
vct endpanel installation wall patch
local ADA
Prior to construction, each site had to be surveyed by Project Managers from both Fortney & Weygandt and the client, accompanied by merchandise set-up personnel to develop the full scope for each store.
Each store carried a renovation schedule of 21 days. Our four-man crews started an average of 12 stores every week, with more than 36 stores ongoing at any one time (that is as many as 36 crews out on any given week). In a departure from similar programs, materials were ordered from via email from client owned parts depots in time to arrive at stores on schedule. Two Fortney & Weygandt delivery trucks assisted this effort, ferrying gondolas, paint, and supplies across the program’s geographical scope.
Our project managers and admins were responsible for working with client project managers, district managers, architects, and vendors, transmitting scores of giga bytes of information weekly to coordinate the level of communication required to keep this program moving towards completion.
Result:
Once again, the Rollout Service Group received high marks on the scorecard from the client. While many contractors possess the capability to perform the physical construction scope that each store required, few have the logistical know-how that was needed to marry the manpower and know-how with material on site, on time and on budget. Many stores were delivered with zero punch list items.
No matter how small or how large your next rollout program, the Rollout Services Group is ready to deliver for clients across the country. For details on how Fortney & Weygandt can save you time and money, please contact Bard Fulton at our North Olmsted, OH office at 440-716-4000.
