About Us Technology Fortney & Weygandt takes an active approach to technology-based systems, allowing us to service our clients’ needs in the best and quickest way possible. We employ a full-time Information Technology (IT) Department with programming capabilities to administer and manage our construction services. These programs include systems for estimating, scheduling, staffing, payroll, cost control analysis, invoicing, work status, punchlist coordination, and quality assurance. The Estimating function is augmented by the use of two state-of-the-art web sites, ultimately lowering the costs to the owner. Via this service, we place project plans and specifications on the Internet under a password-protected system allowing subcontractors and vendors to view, download, and order prints automatically.A second technology applicable to our Field Management is our use of laptops, mobile phones, pagers, and voicemail systems. Anticipating the critical needs of communication between the home office and field staff, we have developed a custom system that allows the transfer all field records directly into a company database.Similarly, both the Project Manager and Accounting Administrator can transfer necessary records to the field. To facilitate this process, the Field Superintendent is equipped with a laptop computer and has been trained in computer usage to better communicate with the client, architect, and/or home office personnel. We have the ability and equipment to download photography from a digital camera and create a proprietary web site whereby all interested parties may view project progress in real time on a secure basis. By linking the digital image to the modem on the computer in the field, the Field Superintendent can send images from the project, with detailed notes, to the owner, architect, and/or office via e-mail.The ability to perform 100% of daily functions electronically enhances the project quality, cost-effectiveness, and timing. Fortney & Weygandt has found this to be a valuable timesaving tool, keeping all parties up-to-date on the current project status. The use of cutting-edge technology allows Fortney & Weygandt to better service the Owner’s needs. It is our desire to take the burden of the construction element from the owner’s shoulders and place it within our domain, allowing the Owner to be more effective.
